The Snake

Okay -- Saturday morning I am standing at my bathroom sink preparing for the day when I hear a blood curdling scream coming from down stairs. Pretty soon Kari is screaming all the way up the stairs -- wailing for her dad. Erica is close behind her. They can hardly breathe. I get Kari to calm down (take two deep breaths in through your nose, out through your mouth). Apparently, she was getting ready for work, standing at her bathroom sink when she notices movement in the hall -- it was a snake!! Now to preface this, the week before, our neighbor came to tell us that the cable guy had seen a baby rattlesnake and he had told her that there was probably a nest between our two driveways. All week we have been watching for rattlesnakes. So Fred, being the awesome man he is, (he is afraid of snakes as well) gets two shovels from the garage and marches down the stairs to assess the situation. All three of us girls stayed safe upstairs. Jake was water skiing at American Falls. Soon we here pounding (and a few shrieks). Fred had knocked the snake out and scooped it outside! Way to go Fred. We are not sure if it was a baby rattlesnake or just a garter snake. We looked on the Internet and it looks like a garter snake, but Fred is going to take it to someone who can tell us for sure! That got all of our hearts racing for the day!

I'm just going to try to see if I can do this. Watch for it to develop
